Conservative Editorial Overview

WEBSITE OVERVIEW DESK - Suzie

Hi Members,

In light of the general feeling of malaise that most conservative websites are experiencing in the movement and the recent cancellation of the Freedom Jamboree, I felt it was time to update the over view desk.

In retrospect our movement began with no real leader in mind, of course we all wanted Glenn to lead us and guide us into action; instead Glenn chose to lead us to education. All that was necessary in the beginning was the fire to be lit by individuals, spreading the flame of desire for smaller, less corrupt Government to other individuals. And to our credit the Tea Party was born. Perhaps, that is the way it was meant to be and will continue.

As I watch the current struggle for growth within the movement, that appears to be stymied at this time, I cannot help but remember back to those first days on Glenn Becks original 912 Project website and how frantic it all felt to me. The initial onslaught of hundreds of thousands of people attempting to learn and connect with others was very exciting. The eagerness we all had to find the answers to our questions, and for those like me, to simply understand what it was all about. Awakening from what I call “the coma of apathy” was such an extraordinary experience for me. The initial momentum within the movement could have, I felt, moved mountains!

Now, the dust has settled, that initial burst of “towering inferno”, has died to a more comfortable warm cozy fire. The problem seems to be that some individuals have gone out for more chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers. The once startling news of the depth of corruption in our government has become “old hat” to us! It’s become a sort of a “what’s next” attitude.

Knowing full well that the only real answer to “change” (Lord, how I have come to hate that word!) has to come from our Vote in 2012. In the same way our vote changed the majority in the House in 2010. But it is what lies between us and 2012 that causes me alarm.

We are all aware of the Alinsky type tactics that our current regime seems fond of and that is where the danger lies. Just how much damage permanent damage can be achieved by keeping conservatives overwhelmed? Sort of like a batter’s cage gone wacky with hundreds of balls being thrown to only one lone batter. But, in truth there are millions of us standing around with bats in our hands, it is just that at the moment, very few are actually swinging!

Why? That is a million dollar question! My own personal answer is that we are like fish in a bowl swimming around and around and around and many are just tired of going in that same direction! We actually presumed our initial motivation was going to effect the “change” we so desired. And with that not being the case many were ill prepared to go the full distance. On many occasions I have run out of the fuel that it takes to keep the pace with DC and I think simply put, many are just plain tuckered out! And perhaps they are just out gathering more wood or perhaps saving energy for the real battle to come.

So how do we keep the momentum going? Yet another million dollar question! Where do we find the time, the energy that is required to keep up with those hundreds of balls being tossed out daily? I know that I have sacrificed not only family time, other social time, and even the time for household duties, only because I felt an intense sense of duty to keep the websites updated, to answer member’s questions, to settle website disputes. After all it is my website, it is my responsibility.

There have been only two constants, the support of my husband and my Patriot pal Robin. I could not do this without them! I sincerely do not know how I could have done this work without Robin’s seemingly tireless energy. She has kept me from actually walking away from all of this on a few occasions and I thank her for that. Where on the other hand my hubby and family miss me, they also do realize the importance of the websites. Maybe everyone needs a family like mine and a “Robin’ in their life, someone to help them, to prop them up.

The only real answers I have are to be found on this damn computer. Sitting here day in and day out has become a constant in my life. After all, these days if you miss a day, you can suddenly be misinformed!

So for now, rather than jump on the same bandwagon as many of the webmasters and go into a panic, as I nearly did, over the apparent slowdown in motivation. I am going to take a different approach rather than reproach. Because, I am confident that the numbers will be here, doing whatever it takes when the time comes, just as they have been in the past. I am not going to go out for chocolate, marshmallows or graham crackers, I am just going to stay here and stoke that cozy fire, until they come home to fan the fire, which will ignite that towering inferno again.

After all that we have been through, we all know the consequences of non-action.

Comment by Mangus Colorado on November 13, 2011 at 2:44pm: RINO States like Illinois, Ohio, Maine, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, New Jersey, Florida, will all be required if we are to defeat the Progressive/Liberal Senators and kick Mr. Obama out of office - we must all work together to expand the voter base that will assist conservatives in removing the cancer in DC that is killing our Republic.

It is not a political possibility for hard lines to be drawn and effect changes in direction. As proof just look at how Obama isolated the entire Republican elected member of Congress in his first two years - he and the Left forced 100% of their agenda down the throats of the opposition he now complains that the house will not give him 100% of his desired stimulus spending. A hard right position will be just as destructive to correcting the nations issues as the Independence and Libertarians will not support the super conservative agenda and those politicians running on that agenda will be defeated at the polls.

So, while many have been here on TP for a long time - it appears that they are not long time experienced political campaigner. Victories at the polls come from forging together a coalition of wide views and presenting a plan that appeals to that segment of the voting population. Elections are won on strategy not on narrow issues - narrow issues will assure defeat.

Comment by Jeff Rink on November 13, 2011 at 2:20pm: I know that this is a little down the road from when this was first posted, but in the last 4 months since the calming of the "inferno" that you speak of I've noticed a few things. Lately many of the 912/TP groups have been looking to "do more" in the way of supporting candidates and this has led to minor and some major personality issues within each group. They are fighting their own battles, unfortunate but true.

I've noticed many people who really don't believe that the little guys can make a difference. They are still swayed by what the lame stream media is telling them. They are falling prey to the Occupy groups because there are things which they are saying that sound good but they aren't looking at the end game of those who are actually behind these Occupy groups. Unfortunately those people are starting to go back to their true selves. They are abandoning the "small r republicanism" (Mike Church/XM Patriot channel) and returning to their establishment roots because it feels more comfy to them. This to me is evident by the way they are just falling all over themselves to defend Herman Cain. When a professional team of any type has a long loosing streak they go back to the basics, the fundamentals of the game. These people don't want to go back to the fundamentals of our country, Ten Commandments and the Constitution.

Some people are having personal conflicts because they are in mid-indoctrination while attending our public schools and state colleges, yet their conscience is telling them something isn't right. I listened to Limbaugh for many years and we now have many of the "Rush Babies" coming to fruition. We also have in the past several years seen the maturation of many home schooled children. Both of these groups are trying to find an avenue to connect with those of us who have a few "battle scars" to finish the growth process.

Many of our groups have gone into education mode and that means we also need to spend a lot of energy on our own research, as you well know because of this site here. Our group is working on getting a "mini meeting" for younger kids to coincide with the "Old Folks" meetings at the same time/place. We are also working very hard on training for Precinct Committee positions so that we can work harder at the city and county levels. As you have stated we need to stop all of this nonsense at the local level first as that is where we can be most effective right now.

We have been tied up in large part awaiting all the all important SCOTUS decisions and the State actions beating down the unios. Once this debt ceiling showdown has been completed, the results will say volumes about our malaise.

Just a small update, Tom Coburn said this morning that anything like McConnel's plan is dead in the water before it reaches the House. I hope he is right.

Do they still serve those great ribs at the KOA? That was a fun trip!

I am soending more time locally, in my council district and State house where I can have more impact. Working at the state and local level gets the States more involved in the "fight" and helps garner more support for nullification of the Fed power grab.

At first I was so furious I needed to vent a know I was not alone. With the Obamacare passage I realized I needed to change tactics since Washington wouldn't listen, my State will and has.

There is an old saying in Politics - "the more things change the more they stay the same"

I spend a lot of time on posting on many sites - they energy is gone and we must hope it is just the summer doldrums. Most of the sites have a core group and it is just preaching to the choir - we vent but do not make much actually happen.

The Tea Party movement has been invaded by site owners that have become to big for their pants they are enjoying their 15 minutes of fame like TPP and TPN they are on TV talking like they represent my feeling - not even close. Then there are all the 501s that are just outright money makers for the group or individual that owns the 501.

Keep the faith for as the election gets closer you will find more activity. If the conservatives lose the election in 2012 we are then a nation at risk. IMO
