Hey Comrades. .. ...lol.. .... some of us are contemplating having a gathering on Memorial Day 2011 in Lebanon, Kansas. Suzi is going to make a poll to see who all would be interested.

Rage for Order is making a few inquiries for us since he lives close to that area. Let us know what you think as he will probably getting hold of a few of you.

Thanks, Terry

Dear Friends. It is important to know that after November 3rd, we will be faced with some difficult choices, and will be dependent on our choices in the election to bring this country back from the brink of destruction. Along that theme, it is our responsibility to hold them accountable. The regime that is in power, must not only be removed, but held up to the light as to who and what they are. That is why I am asking for this small favor.

We are just a few out of the millions, (I think we stand at 25 members), who are determined Patriots, that feel we must do something extraordinary. For those of you that have not participated in the forums as much, you might not be aware of some of the topics that cross the pages. When I posted "Isn't It Time to Re-Declarate", I never knew the response that would come from it. From my own personal emails, I have received so many requests to pass it on, I was elated by the Patriotic fervor it spawned. So, I am asking you to do the same; not for me, but for our country. Send it to a few of your friends; see what responses you get.

We can make a difference, just the few of us.

Thanks,

Terry

Dear Friends,

As the Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, last week I soundly stood up to Sen. Sanders (I-VT) amendment to the Tax Extenders bill that would have imposed a multi-billion tax increase on America’s domestic energy producers. To punish American owned energy companies with a multi-billion dollar tax increase is not the answer. Instead, BP should be held solely responsible for the Gulf of Mexico catastrophe. In the end, the Senate spoke with a clear bi-partisan message in agreement with my position by defeating the Sanders amendment with a 61-35 vote.

I attended a Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) hearing regarding the war in Afghanistan. I questioned key witnesses including U.S. Gen. David H. Petraeus and Hon. Michele A. Flournoy. Both Petraeus and Flounoy agreed that cutting dollars to the Commander’s Emergency Response Program (CERP) and withdrawing our troops based on the President’s timeline and not for the better of Afghanistan would be disastrous. After hearing both Petreaus and Flournoy’s testimony, I believe Congress needs to continue funding CERP at the President’s request of $1.1 billion dollars which will provide basic services as water and energy which will improve the people of Afghanistan’s security and economy well-being.

The U.S. Army celebrated their 235th birthday last week. As a senior member of the SASC and the co-chair of the Senate Army Caucus, I attended the Army's reception on Capitol Hill. It was an honor to meet the many soldiers servingin the U.S. Army that have worked both here at home and abroad to protect our nation’s freedom.

Additionally, the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) awarded me with the Benjamin Franklin Public Policy award. As someone who previously worked in the insurance industry, I appreciate this award and NAMIC’s promotion of free markets.

Sincerely,

Senator Jim Inhofe

Former Chief Of The Cherokee Nation Wilma Mankiller Dies

TAHLEQUAH, OK -- The Cherokee Nation announced Tuesday former chief Wilma Mankiller has died. In March, the Cherokee Nation said Mankiller had been diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer.
She was the first woman to lead a Native American tribe and Mankiller completely changed the face of the Cherokee Nation.

During her 10 years as chief, Mankiller's tribe tripled in size to become the country's second-largest.

She retired from public office in 1995.

Wilma Mankiller broke barriers and stereotypes, becoming the first woman to lead a Native American tribe before succumbing to cancer Tuesday morning.

It was an unlikely path to power, but looking back, it seems Mankiller was destined to lead.

Originally an unpopular pick for Assistant Chief, Wilma Mankiller took control of the tribe in 1985 when Chief Ross Swimmer accepted a federal appointment.

"To describe, as some people did to me, she was an extreme liberal female who had no business in the leadership of the Cherokee Nation," said Chad Swimmer, Former Cherokee Chief.

Mankiller grew up on Mankiller Flat, the Oklahoma land allotted to her grandfather.

We had no electricity. We had no indoor plumbing. There was no paved road near our house," Mankiller said during an interview in 1996.

That simple life ended at 10-years-old. Mankiller was part of her own Trail of Tears, loaded up on a train and taken to the Red Light District of San Francisco, courtesy of a government relocation program. She had never been more isolated from her Cherokee heritage.

But the move gave Mankiller a front row seat when Native American students made a stand for their rights, by occupying Alcatraz Island in 1969.

"That was a major political watershed for me, because that was a period of time when I decided to get involved, rather than just sitting on the sidelines," Mankiller said.
In an e-mail statement in early March, Mankiller wrote,

"…I am mentally and spiritually prepared for this journey; a journey that all human beings will take at one time or another. I learned a long time ago that I can't control the challenges the Creator sends my way but I can control the way I think about them and deal with them. On balance, I have been blessed with an extraordinarily rich and wonderful life, filled with incredible experiences…"

Wilma Mankiller was 64-years-old.

Investigating a RECALL petition on Colorado's Betsy Markey District #4. In Colorado, we could get her out in a special election in 90 days. I want to make our voices heard.
