New Site Owner. Thoughts from Kos

Well TCC has been saved and I for one, am breathing a sigh of relief!  The amount of research and hard work done here is truly phenomenal and I was saddened when Suzie's felt she could no longer hold the reigns.  What if that disappeared forever?!  (omg!)  Thankfully prayers are answered so the question that's being posed to me is "Kos, will you change the site?"?  I would easily say 100% of what you see is what will remain.  What I would like to do though is add a few things.......but I need your input.  What are your thoughts.........and would you have time to volunteer?

  1. I'll place if first and up front.  I told Suzie if her health improves and she wants the site back - all she needs do is ask.  I still feel this is here baby.......and I'm the sitter!  *lol*
  2. Income.  No one runs a website without one or more of the following:  Sponsors to foot the bill or a form of income to pay for their bills and time.  Sponsors are tough to come by unless we greatly increase our number of page reads (we're talking 5x more readers).  Charge for sections of the website.  Currently we do not charge for anything.  Advertising (3-5 ads) on every page....which only works if you "hit" the ads which contributes pennies per impression.  Or member contribution.  We removed the ads in 2016 and tried to go with simple contribution but this hasn't resulted in any form of income stream to pay the bills.  If Suzie didn't do a plea for help, she would've closed long ago so I'd like your opinion.   Are there areas we could setup and charge an admission fee?  Can you think of other alternative income streams?  Please bring it!
  3. That being said, there's one surefire way to boost readership - share everything you read and post from TCC.  Everything!  Share to Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc. If you don't have a Facebook and Twitter (then do a customizable Tweetdeck) account, you're missing out so get up and apply.........and let's get our news out there!
  4. 2018 Congressional elections are only a year away with many Dem seats up for grabs.  What can we do to promote the prospective GOP runners?  How can we best steal away or convert those Dem voters to the GOP side overall?  If you folks come up with your own posts on this topic, I will happily share them to Twitter and Facebook to begin to convert those minds!
  5. Alright, we have a new Conservative President..........but I say he still needs our help.  If you're on Twitter, please be sure you follow @realDonaldTrump today!
  6. Cutting regulations.  One of President Trumps major initiatives going forward.  Have any idea on specific regulations that need to go on the chopping block?  Oh boy, I can see numerous posts coming out of this!  Again, if you write it - I'll share it on Facebook/Twitter.
  7. Aside from the 2018 election and converting Democratic voters, there has been a dramatic increase in talk of the "Deep State" and all its conspiracy theories.  While I'm not a fan of CT, at times a story can be proven true so I never say to dismiss it.  Is this increase a form of retaliation to Trump or did he bring it with him?  Should we (you) be writing about this and grabbing the public's attention? (Click GoogleTrends image to enlarge)
  8. Now what about the "fake media" claims?  Is he spot on or being slightly over dramatic?  Yes media is heavily Dem but is this truly an area we can work on?  Having a 'category' of fake news where we prove articles are inaccurate,  incorrect or just made up?  Again, I'm not talking posting someone else's pieces proving a post was a lie.  I'm talking about a TCC member posting evidence a piece is a lie.  Something YOU take the credit on..........and I share them across the web.
  9. "Items to Ponder".  We had this for a few years ago on the home page which was a list of possible 'topics' (some current - some historic) one could use create a Discussion or Editorial.  Well, it's coming back so stay tuned!
  10. I'd like some feedback from you on the Constitutional education series.  Did you take part?  Is Trumps administration a call to reach out run this series again?  Educate the public further on our Constitution?  I need your feedback.  Can this be something we could charge a "fee" to participate?  Who could run it?  How many weeks?  Let me hear it.
  11. Lastly let's hear from YOU.  What would YOU like to see added to TCC or run/laid out differently?

Well there you go.  I look forward to your responses and hope to see more original posts and sharing ahead.  If you ever need me, just drop me a message by clicking on my image or email me @ mrsbuz1@aol.com.  I work from home so I'm always here. I truly hope we grow in the time ahead and Suzie promises to still pop in as she can.  I just pray she and Will devote the time they need to tend their health.  We will still be here; hopefully revving along!

It is not showing the members location who have signed on to the forum or the outside viewers reading the discussions

Ummm okay our Activity feed is never going to show you who or how many are viewing a page.  That's a analytics metric that is reserved for the site owner.  What the Activity feed will show is how many members take action within the site posting articles or comments.   Maybe we have confusion here over what is "activity" because the website you gave me, does not have one at all.

It's merely a blog (built on blogger) and lists out his blog entries to the right.    No where do I see where "visitors" are shown other than his Live Traffic Feed (which we have).  Now the difference between his and ours......is his visitors are looking at other pages besides the home page.  Our visitors seem 'stuck' on the home page; not venturing further.  It didn't used to be that way.

I've moved it to the right side so you can see it if you scroll down but the two feeds will not go any higher.  I feel it important to advertise the Steam Room and the small ad needs to remain above the fold.  Irregardless of where the Traffic feed is located - it knows who's here.  No need for it to be above the fold.  The Activity Feed is the more revealing of the two so it's higher.

I'm headed out the door so I'll have to get to your posts again when I return but thanks for the feedback.   It's extremely appreciated!

Now that's an Editorial if ever I saw one

I see the calls for  "more involvemed". I've been seeking that since 2011. Nothing.  The only time people feverishly came out in droves was for Trump. And quite a few of those were the disgruntled Paulbots; and the majority of them were anarchists.

The hard-Trump base are far right-nationalists. These are as blindly faithful to Trump as the far-Left is w/ Obama and even Hillary (thanks to their media ).

I receive the new membership email notifications from several sites. The highest I've seen was for the TP Command Center.  The lowest, unfortunately, has been here (TCC/012CQ).

Here's something else that's unfortunate: Although TPCC has the highest membership growth, their posts (replies, blogs or discussions etc) are merely reactionary responses to the headlines and the actions and positions taken by democrats and the media. Not to mention the gripes over the ZERO pushback from the repubs.  Yet I see NOTHING about members even wanting to reorganize as they had back during the 2010 midterms! All I'm seeing is bitching at the media; the Ds and the Rs; and defending Trump - w/ very little criticism...if any...for some of DT's badly thought out actions (like allowing the KGBers to bring in their "media" and DT not even at least bringing in any of our allies to the meeting).

Gone are the days...like back in 2009 - 2010...when the sites like the 912 Project or any of the then many "tp" sites, were used as bulletin boards and meeting places to announce and or schedule gatherings, rallies and protests. I no lonoer see the calls for flooding the emails, phonelines or faxes pressuring our Senators and House members. But, then again, EIGHT YEARS of BROKEN promises by "OUR" elected members seems to be taking its toll. ALTHOUGH it's NO excuse for the INACTIONS throughout Obama's 2 Terms.  Did "OUR" membership come out in droves during Ft Hood mess; the Beau Bergdahl swap?  No!  Did we come out en masse over the coverups w/ Fast & Furious; the IRS; Benghazi or the Iran deal? Nope!  Have "we" EVER even come out to pressure DC for SocSec reform?  Don't make me laugh!

Here's something else I've been saying for YEARS now:

Whomever wants to play the blame-game need to start by LOOKING IN THE MIRROR!

"Hey! [I] didn't do anything wrong!"

(eyeroll)

No, of course not. You simply didn't do "anything" - period.

Kos Said...."Hey, our Constitution pages are consistently hit each week"

If that is the case then why is the Constitution discussion buried in the Education topic and not on the main page?

"Hey, our Constitution pages are consistently hit each week"

If that is the case wouldn't it be a good idea to send out emails on the current articles posted or discussions of the Constitution to members? How about State news posted fighting the Federal leviathan?

AG Paxton Calls on EPA to Suspend and Review Unlawful Regulations Harmful to Texans
Friday, May 19, 2017 – Austin
Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office sent a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) urging it to suspend, review and reconsider Obama-era EPA regulations that Texas challenged in 12 lawsuits that are still pending against the federal agency. The letter was sent Monday in response to a request for comments from EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.

AG Paxton: Texas Joins 17-States Filing Amicus Brief to Support School Rights
Monday, May 15, 2017 – Austin
“Schools are facing the potential loss of federal funding all because local educators are exercising the authority to implement common-sense policies that best protect their students’ privacy, safety and dignity,” Attorney General Paxton said. “Texas has led the fight to prevent the Department of Education from unilaterally rewriting federal law. Title IX permits schools to maintain separate facilities, including bathrooms and locker rooms, and the 4th Circuit should recognize this principle.”

Reply by Kos.....

Have to agree with you on that one which brings me to point out that it's been a long-time problem "here" b/c it seems a few problems we have to look at:

  1. We have to analyse "what" is being reviewed when visitors come here.  Do they just go to the main page and then leave?  Are they going to other pages?  What pages?  What's their length of stay?  Is that time increasing over time or decreasing.
  2. When you (a current member) comes here, we have to analyze what "you" are doing.  Are you on the Home Page and navigating to others pages and discussions.......or are you parked in the Steam room and watching the Activity Feed on the side?   You have to realize - we don't want you doing this!  We want you on the Home Page and clicking through on articles; going page to page.  How can we change this behavior?  This is another area I've been looking into.  Member behavior.

.

.

Over time, it has become apparent we have a dozen or so members are who are continually commenting.  Continally participating and talking through the issues we have at hand..............but the remaining members (including visitors) are not getting involved.

Reply by Am912....Probably because they see no activity on the forum and they go else where.

Activity feed that is placed on this forum is too low needs to be raised. It is not showing the members location who have signed on to the forum or the outside viewers reading the discussions. Would you please raise the forums Activity Stream feed for one month? Or fix or replace the damn defective one that is not showing viewers or members posting or viewing the forum.

On the Political Pistachio website (Constitution & news site) activity feed shows what discussion the outsider is viewer when reading on the forum. His forum looks active because his activity feed is working.  http://politicalpistachio.blogspot.com/

I see it regularly that conservatives I know in my area shying away from showing their pride in being conservatives. There is no doubt there is a chilling affect the hard left has had -- This probably is at the root of the problem observed at seemingly low interest our 912 site as well as other sites.

While I would desire that Republicans and Democrat leaders would say "enough is enough" with the resistance movement obviously they are not going to step up. So where does that leave us? Looks like to me it falls on our shoulders. That means be brave Patriots. Speak up, wear your conservative, constitutional badge on your shoulder with pride.

The time is not for silence.

I haven't been as active on this site lately. I have been busy with Republican groups locally. My resources $$'s, have gone to endeavors locally.

I have made calls for the special elections. For example GA and Montana and a mayoral election.

Carly F. said recently that politics is personal. Well it is both personal and local. 912 is a family of liked minded patriots. Use it for ideas, discussions. It really is a safe haven.

Thank you Luis for that confirmation.  Nope.  It's not just us.  We have to get more involvement and boost membership.  Have to have to have to...........if we want to survive.

Hey, our Constitution pages are consistently hit each week.  I worked on linking them last month because it's kind of nasty but I could promote them more (on the home page) once it's done.

(Edited to add)  They're still a mess.  I got sick and backed off the work.  Have to get back to it.

Do we have members still willing to do the weekly discussions again?  Maybe it's time.............

"Because of the scandals and attacks on the president, the blogs and websites on the internet are loaded with hundreds of daily comments"

Nope. Not all of them. Some are still ghost towns.

Add to that the # of new sign ups is continually low so these are the problems we need to address and correct (if we are to survive).

Disgus is a revenue generator popular (depending on where you build your site) as an 'add on' and is generally found on blogs out there but you'll notice that large news sites (Bloomberg, Reuters, WSJ, ABC, etc.) have their own internal forum as we have (where you must be a signed in member)...........or they have no comments at all.  Note:  They're a Wordpress addon and Wordpress is HUGE worldwide so this is where you'll see it quite often even though you have no idea it's a "Wordpress" site.  One thing to note: Disgus does not bring visitors "in" - we need that.  We need more new member and more involvement.

In any case, our problem remains the same.  People need to sign into something to comment.........and we want it to be 912CQ.  Not a third party who's going to have ads in there and track them.

These just highlights what's being looked at and reviewed.

I'm actually (sorry) not a big fan of Feedjit to be honest with you because Google dings us for having over 100 links on the home page - and I'd much rather have more news showing.  That widget hurts us but I've left it there for now b/c Suzie said you guys like to see who's coming to the site from what part of the nation.  I can find all of that information in my Analytics so it's of little use (to me) and again, Feedjit does not "bring" anyone here.

The "Activity Feed" of ours takes up four (4) hits per post so that's a killer too - but again I've left it there until I come up with a better solution.  I know you guys/gals like to look at what's been posted throughout the day.

Long story made short - there's a ton of work to be done "under the hood" here to determine what's wrong, why and how to best correct it.  I feel like we're a 1957 Chevy and we're trying to convert the engine to natural gas.  Complicated.........but so worth it in the long run!

Keep throwing out any ideas you come up with.  I'm open to listen
