Planned Parenthood Abortion Quotas: ‘Criminal’

Texas Congressman Enraged Over Planned Parenthood Abortion Quotas: ‘Criminal’

The Texas congressman in whose district a Planned Parenthood clinic allegedly had abortion quotas reacted angrily to the news Tuesday, saying, ”The criminal behavior of Planned Parenthood has no limits.”

The Daily Caller obtained a 2010 budget statement from the now-closed abortion clinic in Bryan, Texas, which a former director explained was proof that the clinic had annual abortion quotas it needed to meet to make its budget.

“While the murder of any unborn child is appalling,” said Republican Rep. Bill Flores, “even more criminal is the establishment of a target to kill over 1,100 innocent Texas children in order to meet financial targets.”

According to the clinic’s former director Abby Johnson, the clinic needed to perform at least 1,135 in the 2010 fiscal year, which would generate over $350,000 in revenue. (RELATED: Had A Lot Of Abortions? Planned Parenthood Is Giving Out Awards)

In June, a leaked photograph showed an award given to a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic for increasing the number of abortions performed there.

In a press release responding to the leak, Planned Parenthood vowed that it “does not have ‘quotas’ for any of our services,” but that they ”absolutely do celebrate our progress in ensuring that more people have access to the full range of reproductive health care, including abortion.” (RELATED: Abortion Activists Say Abortion Shouldn’t Be Rare)

“Someday, somehow the leadership of Planned Parenthood will have to answer for their callous disregard of the sanctity of human life,” said Flores. “In the meantime, I am relieved that the Bryan abortion facility has gone out of business.”

The clinic closed in the summer of 2013 after a new women’s health program barred Planned Parenthood from receiving state funding.

Since his election in 2011, Flores has sponsored and supported a number of bills barring taxpayer funding for and increasing restrictions on abortion, including a bill that would exclude health plans that cover abortions from qualifying under Obamacare.

Planned Parenthood has not yet responded to requests for comment about the alleged quotas.

If you ask me, it's about caring for an enormous volume of patients and not enough resources.  Some places recent shut down b/c the Supreme Court ruled to allow protestors within 50 feet of a building.

Take Texas for example and Perry's brilliant move to ban abortions.  There were more than 40 clinics that provided abortions in Texas in 2011. There are now 20 still open, and after the law's last steps of implementation are taken in September, all but six are expected to close.  It's a complete joke.  Where do you think those patients are going to go?  Over the border into Oklahoma, NM and Mexico....wherever they need to.
