So far President Trump has exceeded my expectations.  His choice of his honorable Neil Gorsuch was very well thought out; and his introduction was flawless.  I have to admit that I was glued to the tube w/ anticipation. I did yell "YES!" when Gorsuch's name was pronounced.

Am I jubilant?  Of course not. What I am is relieved - w/ a guarded optimism.  No human being is free of imperfections  And, sadly, for well over a century now, many, if not most, of the elected officials, as well as quite a few of those that have been appointed in Washington DC have dishonored their Oaths of Office to protect, defend, and abide by the US Constitution.

Yes, I do feel a sense of guarded...GUARDED...optimism. But that in no way means that I will ever be a blind-follower of anyone in politics. Nor will I ever spin, or make excuses for, anyone. I never had before. Why should I start now.

The USA had stopped being a Constitutional Republic a long time ago. Over a century of progressive (socialist / globalist) changes to our Constitution, by Amendments, laws, and regulations had plowed the way; enabling the damage that has been done within the last 20 yrs alone - and during the last eight years  for sure.

Whomever believes that the choice of a Supreme Court jurist should also be determined and influenced by trends...or populism...is deeply misinformed. Thus, they are misguided.  Trends shift. And, like them, polls can be manipulated; and protests can be manufactored.  In the end, all we have left is our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence which expresses the very spirit of its construction. Yet, even the Constitution is not perfect; and the Framers were well aware of it. Otherwise, the language of The Preamble would not have included "in order to form a more-perfect Union".

They were very aware that the key weakness, or flaw, with the Constitution is that it depends SOLELY on a moral Citizenry that would honor and abide by it. NO amendment, law or regulation will EVER be able to assure, let alone deliver, morals. It's up to the American Citizenry to do that.

Am...Larry,

During an interview on CNN, Glenn Beck said that when they (the msm) hits President Trump he comes back hitting much harder; Then the msm has to try to strike back even harder...s forth and so on...

Years ago on TPP, I had agreed w/ Beck's use of a pendulum to describe the left and right political extremes. Under the Barack admn that "pendulum" swung HARD and DEEP the left. Physics requires a counter-reaction.

As the democrat-socialist machine continues to plow through the country blocking airports; setting fires; and assaulting people; DT's natural response is to take even tougher positions   Jus look at how Bush43 handled 9/11 (The Patroit Act) and the Crash of 2008 (TARP).  The Federal govt gave itself even MORE power. And we here know that the MORE power the gov't grabs - the LESS Freedom and Liberty the American Citizenry is ALLOWED to have.

Barack and Harry plowed the way for the govt to bypass the Constitution's separation of powers by implementing "Pen and phone" policies (Exec Orders) and the so called "nuclear option"

As II said, physics requires counter-reactions. What I do worry about is that...in this extremely divided, fanatical, and revenge-driven environment...how far IS IT going to go. I'll tell you this: It is NOT going to be good at all.    .

Had visitors yesterday and the short political discussion was interesting.

Prefaced with - One friend was once a BIG Hillary fan - years ago, and surprised me about a year ago by saying she was now scum in his eyes (I think maybe the release of the information in the book Clinton Cash had something to do with that) and he was liking Trump. The other friend has always pretty well been a believer in whatever MSM says, and 6 months ago was absolutely sure Trump came from the most evil pit in hell - was a bad joke, and had no chance in an election against Hillary.

... in the short exchange we had about politics we all agreed that whatever we thought about Trump during the election - none of us had any disagreement with what he has done so far.  -- the only concern even mentioned was their not being sure how difficult it was going to be to go out of the country and come back - given they and their wives go on cruises a few times a year.

..and I'm finding this is not unusual in conversations within my circles. Common folk (who aren't political activists) of varying lifestyles and cultures are mostly in agreement with what he has done so far.

"guarded optimism"

That's a good way to describe of saying exactly how I feel. One step at a time, trust needs to be earn when looking back.

Glad to hear Sessions was confirmed yesterday so he can start working on draining the swamp.
